Marigaux serial numbers
The French oboe house founded by an SML partner.
J. Marigaux — of the Strasser-Marigaux-Lemaire family — built the oboe house that rivals Lorée. A dealer-published year table covers 1977–2003; earlier and later instruments are bracketed from the documented anchor points.

Oboe — 27 ranges
Marigaux publishes nothing itself, but the repair house Lohff & Pfeiffer publishes a year table for Marigaux oboes in annual serial blocks: 1977 = 8500-9499, 1978 = 9500-10099, 1979 = 10100-10899, 1980 = 10900-11699, 1981 = 11700-12499, 1982 = 12500-13199, 1983 = 13200-14199, 1984 = 14200-15200, 1985 = 15201-16099, 1986 = 16100-16999, 1987 = 17000-17999, 1988 = 18000-18999, 1989 = 19000-19999, 1990 = 20000-20999, 1991 = 21000-21999, 1992 = 22000-22999, 1993 = 23000-24199, 1994 = 24200-25199, 1995 = 25200-26099, 1996 = 26100-26899, 1997 = 26900-27699, 1998 = 27700-28399, 1999 = 28400-29099, 2000 = 29100-29929, 2001 = 29930-30449, 2002 = 30450-31119, 2003 = 31120-31619.
Codes, eras and engraving
Isolated dealer number+year pairs outside the table — 1970s and 2000s
Dealer listings print a serial with its year where the maker's table does not reach: a Marigaux oboe listed as serial 3808 is given as 1975, and a Marigaux-built 'Cabart 74' as 00037 = 2000. These are single observations, useful as control points only.
Reported control points at low confidence; a year for any other number outside the Lohff & Pfeiffer blocks would be a guess.

Questions
Can this archive date Marigaux instruments from the serial number?
Yes — the archive covers 2 numbering sequence(s) and 29 dating ranges from 1977 to 2003, compiled from published maker records and reference charts. Every answer states its source and confidence.
Where is the serial number on a Marigaux instrument?
For Oboes the common location is on the upper joint or the bell — Lorée letters sit low on the upper joint.
What if my Marigaux serial number is not found?
Recheck the characters exactly as marked, including any letters. Letter prefixes often belong to student or stencil lines. Some periods may not be covered yet — every refusal here says why.
